La actuación paisajística trata de organizar los espacios exteriores e interiores del Restaurante BREATHE, situado en Puerto Banus, Marbella, España. El proyecto de paisajismo se entiende como una intervención global que trabaja no solamente sobre la vegetación, pero sobre el conjunto del espacio, a través de la arquitectura, la luz, el agua, el fuego, la iluminación, los materiales, etc. para la creación de un ambiente propio y único.
ESPIRITU DEL PROYECTO
La propuesta paisajística pretende acercar los visitantes a la idea de naturaleza entendida como una vuelta a los orígenes, a lo esencial. Así mismo se desarrolla un proyecto que busca un ambiente de selva “casi primitiva” en el cual el cliente se ve inmerso, un ambiente de frescor donde predomina lo verde y el agua de las fuentes.
ZONA DEL PATIO
El patio es de alguna manera el “alma” del proyecto, este espacio en el que las personas pueden disfrutar de un momento especial bajo la sombra de 6 grandes Chorisia speciosa [palo borracho]. Estos árboles centenares que provienen de Argentina aportan una sombra muy agradable durante casi todo el año. En invierno pierden las hojas, dejando el protagonismo a la textura de su tronco, para luego a principio de primavera lucir unas flores preciosas que destacan ya que aparecen antes de que el árbol vuelva a vestirse de hojas. La vegetación escogida de altura media y baja está compuesta por acantos y helechos, plantas que transmiten un ambiente fresco y selvático.
FUENTES
Este espacio se organiza alrededor de varias fuentes que aportan un murmullo y una humedad al ambiente.
La fuente principal es escalonada y corresponde a un juego de volúmenes que combina los elementos, agua, fuego, mineral y vegetal. Incluso se puede sentar en ella y así sentirse muy cerca del agua. Se inspira en las fuentes de los parques públicos realizadas por el arquitecto paisajista americano Lawrence Halprin durante el siglo pasado. Jugamos con las diferentes texturas de un mismo material: el mármol Sierra Elvira, con acabado pulido para las zonas húmedas, y con un acabado muy rugoso para las zonas secas.
Las dos fuentes laterales están compuestas por unos muros vegetales de los cuales salen chorros de agua y unos bancos que delimitan los vasos de agua. Se trata de una reinterpretación contemporánea a otra escala de las «cien fuentes» de la Villa d’Este en Tivoli, Roma.
MURO VERDE
Este muro verde de 25 metros de largo por 3 metros de alto es el más largo de la Costa del Sol. No es un muro vegetal más, es un muro vegetal muy especial del cual salen distintos chorros de agua que caen a dos fuentes desbordantes. Es un muro vegetal en dos niveles que incluye jardineras de las cuales salen palmeras Phoenix Roebelenii [palmera robeleni].
Es el telón de fondo del patio, un marco con una predominancia del color verde. Detrás del muro se plantan unos bambús muy grandes que sobresalen por encima y terminan de enmarcar la escena.
ARBOLES FRUTALES
En una zona del Patio se plantan unos árboles frutales que permiten abastecer el restaurante con frutos propios. Se trata de frutales tales como Citrus limon [limonero], Citrus sinensis [naranjo dulce], Citrus reticulata [mandarino], Ficus carica [higuera], Annona cherimola [chirimoya], Mangifera indica [mango].
ZONA DEL RESTAURANTE – JARDÍN COLGANTE
El espacio del Restaurante busca recrear un ambiente propio de los bosques amazónicos con la creación de un Jardín Colgante. La colocación de los 170 maceteros con plantas colgantes reales organiza desde arriba unos espacios enmarcados por el elemento vegetal. Este sistema paisajístico nos permite fomentar una experiencia donde lo vegetal envuelve a los comensales.
ZONA DEL SKY
La zona del Sky se organiza alrededor de una gran jardinera en la cual se apoyan unos bancos de obra y se plantan 3 grandes Plumeria rubra [frangipani]. Estos árboles que confieren un ambiente muy tropical, tienen unas flores con una fragancia extraordinaria, y juegan con las pérgolas que cubren las zonas de mesas.
ZONA DE LA CAFETERIA
La zona interior de la cafetería incluye plantas aromáticas para su uso en la cocina del restaurante. Las plantas de las zonas exteriores son una mezcla entre plantas autóctonas propias del mediterráneo y plantas subtropicales.

The landscape intervention tries to organize the outdoor an indoor spaces of the BREATHE Restaurant, located in Puerto Banus, Marbella, Spain. The landscaping project is understood as a global intervention that works not only on the vegetation, but on the entire space, through architecture, light, water, fire, lighting, materials, etc. for the creation of your own and unique environment.
SPIRIT OF THE PROJECT
The landscape proposal aims to bring visitors closer to the idea of nature understood as a return to the origins, to the essential. Likewise, a project is developed that seeks an “almost primitive” jungle environment in which the client is immersed, an environment of freshness where greenery and water from fountains predominate.
PATIO AREA
The patio is in some way the “soul” of the project, this space where people can enjoy a special moment under the shade of 6 large Chorisia speciosa [drunken stick]. These hundreds of trees that come from Argentina provide very pleasant shade almost all year round. In winter they lose their leaves, leaving the focus on the texture of their trunk, and then at the beginning of spring they show off beautiful flowers that stand out since they appear before the tree once again puts on leaves. The chosen vegetation of medium and low height is composed of acanthus and ferns, plants that transmit a fresh and jungle atmosphere.
WAter featureS
This space is organized around several fountains that provide a murmur and humidity to the environment.
The main fountain is stepped and corresponds to a set of volumes that combines the elements, water, fire, mineral and vegetable. You can even sit on it and feel very close to the water. It is inspired by the fountains in public parks made by the American landscape architect Lawrence Halprin during the last century. We played with the different textures of the same material: Sierra Elvira marble, with a polished finish for wet areas, and with a very rough finish for dry areas.
The two lateral fountains are made up of plant walls from which jets of water emerge and benches that delimit the water vessels. This is a contemporary reinterpretation on another scale of the «hundred fountains» of the Villa d’Este in Tivoli, Rome.
GREEN WALL
This green wall, 25 meters long and 3 meters high, is the longest on the Costa del Sol. It is not just another plant wall, it is a very special plant wall from which different jets of water come out and fall into two overflowing fountains. It is a plant wall on two levels that includes planters from which Phoenix Roebelenii palms [palmera robeleni] grow.
It is the backdrop of the patio, a frame with a predominance of green. Behind the wall, some very large bamboos are planted that protrude above and finish framing the scene.
FRUIT TREES
In an area of the Patio, some fruit trees are planted that allow the restaurant to be supplied with its own fruits. These are fruit trees such as Citrus limon [lemon tree], Citrus sinensis [sweet orange tree], Citrus reticulata [tangerine], Ficus carica [fig tree], Annona cherimola [cherimoya], Mangifera indica [mango].
RESTAURANT AREA – HANGING GARDEN
The Restaurant space seeks to recreate an atmosphere typical of the Amazon forests with the creation of a Hanging Garden. The placement of the 170 pots with real hanging plants organizes spaces framed by the plant element from above. This landscape system allows us to promote an experience where vegetation surrounds diners.
SKY AREA
The Sky area is organized around a large planter on which work benches are supported and 3 large Plumeria rubra [frangipani] are planted. These trees give a very tropical atmosphere, have flowers with an extraordinary fragrance, and play with the pergolas that cover the table areas.
CAFETERIA AREA
The interior area of the cafeteria includes aromatic plants for use in the restaurant’s kitchen. The plants in the outdoor areas are a mix between native Mediterranean plants and subtropical plants.
